Update: Broads Blog Discontinued

The Authority will no longer be using this blog to convey information to the public, having decided there are more appropriate channels to do so.

You can stay up to date by:
  • Visiting the News page for press releases and updates on the Authority's work.
  • Subscribing to receive monthly briefing updates from our Chief Executive, John Packman, using the following link. These will also be available to read online through our News page and social media. Read the briefing for August here.
  • Or alternatively, you can follow us on Twitter or Facebook where we will post regular updates (including all of the above).
We hope you will benefit from this new approach and we look forward to receiving any feedback sent through the contact form on our website.

Sale of Jenner's Basin

Statement from the Broads Authority regarding the sale of Jenner's Basin

We understand Mr Wood has sold the western end of Thorpe Island including Jenner's Basin. This has been entirely his decision and the Broads Authority has not been involved.

We have every sympathy for all those who have been affected by this long running planning dispute and will help ensure that the owners of any boats remaining there are aware of the change of ownership. We understand that no-one is living in the basin however.

Two planning inspectors, the High Court and the Court of Appeal found that Mr Wood had failed to obtain the required planning permission for development of moorings that he was renting out. You can read the full background information as well as information about the conclusion of the injunction court case.
